Submit your tutoring application at the link below. Note that this application takes up to 120 minutes to complete.
The application below has 2 key parts:
General background information
A content review
After completing the content review, the applicant will receive a link to schedule a teaching interview, conducted virtually.
The application gathers your background information. Additionally, the application is written to measure your knowledge in the subjects you intend to teach. Don't let this intimidate you! This test should simply be a review of knowledge you already know.
We suggest completing the application with scratch paper and a pen available on hand. Any use of the Internet or other resources during the content review is strictly prohibited; if the system detects use of outside resources, the interviewee's application will be immediately disqualified.
The length of the content review varies depending on how many subjects within a track you choose to teach, but is expected to take around 120 minutes. It is suggested that you complete the application in one sitting.
By default, all applicants should complete content review questions for all subjects listed on the application (approximately 120 minutes). The more subjects a tutor can proficiently teach, the more likely they are to be accepted into the program.
Note that subjects are evaluated 100% independently of each other.
For this reason, it is strategically advantageous to apply to as many subjects as possible, if not all subjects listed in a track.
Example: Suppose an applicant is confident about her Algebra II knowledge, though unsure of her Calculus AB and Calculus BC knowledge. She should complete the questions for all 3 subjects. If she passes all 3 subjects, she will be approved to teach those 3 subjects. If however, she only passes 1 of the 3 tests, she will be approved to teach 1 subject, as if she had only interviewed for only that 1 subject (the other 2 subjects are NOT counted against the applicant). In fact, interviewers will not be notified of any failed tests.
For this reason, applicants are encouraged to select all subjects.
After completing the application & content review, applicants will receive an email to schedule a virtual teaching interview.
Please schedule this interview within 2 business days of receiving the email.
To prepare for the virtual teaching interview, thoroughly read through the Applicant Pre-Interview Prep Guide, linked below.
To apply to tutor, scomplete steps 1-3 by the date listed at the top of the page. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, so the sooner you submit, the higher chance of acceptance.
We have a minimum requirement of each tutor taking on 3 students, which is 3-4.5 hours per week. Aside from that, hours are flexible, as most of our tutors are PhD students, full time employees, or undergraduates who teach as a side passion. Workload can also be adjusted by quarter.
Due to COVID-19, most of our current teaching occurs virtually, through Zoom. If you live in the Bay Area, you’ll have the opportunity to tutor either virtually or in-person.
Nope! We have quite a bit of demand for virtual tutoring, and our greatest priority is teaching quality. If you live in a city outside of the Bay Area, you would tutor virtually.
You can expect to hear back from a Transform Tutoring Coordinator within 2-3 business days of completing the virtual tutoring interview.
Once we pair you with a student, you’ll work directly with them to align a convenient time. Most students prefer after school and evenings. It’s up to you whether you want to work on weekends or prefer weekdays.
We can set you up with students who only want mentoring once or twice a month. Our goal is to find the highest quality mentors and work with them to schedule a time accordingly.
Absolutely! You are more than welcome to chat with current tutors after you’ve received an offer.
